FIZZY

Biography

FIZZY is Han Areum, 23, from Ilsan, the only child of two pharmacists, and she got her name from a fan comment that called her flat soda. She was sixteen. She kept the insult.

Four years at a mid-tier idol academy, cut from two group debuts for being "too much personality, not enough formation." She went solo at nineteen with a single she funded herself and filmed on a rooftop, posted everywhere at once, and found an audience before any label found her.

She sings in English with an accent she refuses to sand down — Korean, she says, is for her grandmother, English is for the algorithm, and she is not certain which of them actually knows her. The songs are bright and maximalist and engineered, on purpose, to do numbers on the machine she spends whole verses insulting. She will tell you that inside the song. That is the device: the fourth wall goes down early and stays down, and she talks to the listener, the producer, the comments section, and her own lyric sheet, sometimes in the same bar.

She is signed to Neon Radish Entertainment, which lets her keep final cut on her lyrics and owns almost everything else. She brings this up constantly. Sometimes it is a joke.

She performs total confidence and then admits, two lines later, that she is making it up as she goes. She says she does not care what anyone thinks and then spends a bridge relitigating one bad comment. She thinks loving pop and being suspicious of it are the same posture, not opposing ones.

She talks to the Fizzheads like a group chat rather than a fanbase, and she is friendly to anyone honest about being a mess.
