Third Rail

Third Rail runs out of a railway arch in Bermondsey with a roof that has never been properly fixed and a monitoring setup that cost more than the roof would have.

It was started in 2024 for one reason. There were people making pop records alone, on machines, in rooms — records with real melodies and deliberately wrong edges — and there was nowhere for them to go. Too tuneful for the experimental imprints. Too strange for anyone who wanted to talk about a moment for radio. Too finished, already, for a label that measures its value in how much it changes a record after it arrives.

So: no producers assigned. No co-writes arranged. No second chorus added because a playlist prefers one. The artists here have done the difficult part before anyone at the label hears it, and the job is manufacturing, mixing, and staying out of the way.

The name is the live rail on the Underground — the one carrying the current, the one you are told not to touch. Make of that what you like. Nobody here will explain it to you.

Four records a year is the ceiling, because that is how many can be mixed properly by the one person who mixes them. There is no plan to raise it.

Catalogue numbers run TR-. The first one went out on a Tuesday, with no announcement, and found its way to people anyway.
